How Does it work?
Inside the Joomla Subscription Manager component you can create several plans. On PayPal.com you generate a "subscribe now" button for each of these plans. Using our button generator plugin you can easily insert these buttons into your articles. Whenever a customer wants to subscribe to one of your plans he presses the "subscripe now" button inside a article and is taken to PayPal.com's website. After a successful purchase, the customer returns to a thank-you page on your website and a PayPal.com will send a hidden message towards the component. This messages stores the transaction and triggers the creation of the newly generated account. PayPal also sends a email towards customer containing a generated username and password.
Installation
1. Login to your PayPal account
Login to your PayPal account at www.paypal.com and go to Profile->Instant Payment Notification Preferences.
2. Activate IPN
In the PayPal screen click on the edit button to activate the IPN preferences.
First check the box to activate Instant Payment Notification (IPN), next enter the URL at which you will receive the payment notifications. This url points to your Joomla website and the Joomla PayPal IPN handler file.
3. Enable Auto Return
Go to Profile->Website Payment Preferences. Make sure that the Auto Return Radio boxes are set to ON. You can also enter a return URL. This is the page where all customers are returned to after they have made a purchase. Finaly hit the save button and the PayPal setup is complete.
4. Add Plans
After you created a plan inside the Subscriptions Manager component you have to generate a PayPal button. This button can be placed inside your websites content and points towards the PayPal payment system. Login to your PayPal account at www.paypal.com and go to Merchant Tools->Buy Now Buttons (at Key Features on the right).
Select 'Subscriptions and recurring billing' and fill in the details. At Subscription ID/Number: you have to fill in the IPN ID from Joomla Subscription Manager. Don't forget to check on the 'Have PayPal create user names and passwords for customers' checkbox. Also select plaint text e-mail address as the default identifier.
